    Help me decide...

Okay, I'm about ready to graduate from my ENO singlenest. Here's my requirements:

Lightweight and only needs to support 165-175lbs
integrated bug net would be nice
some storage and/or integrated ridge line
    must be US made

Sounds like I just described the WBBB single 1.1. Just wondering what others are out there in this class though. I also can't make up my mind if I want a double layer or not either. The only purpose for the DL is to add a pad right? I will be using a Lost River UQ and maybe some other amendments like a space blanket and such. I don't have a top quilt. I've been using a REI Halo 25^ which I really like. The climate I camp in is Pisgah area NC in mid-to-late fall and early spring. Not a lot of winter camping going on at this point, my UQ won't really support it adequately I don't think. Look forward to the advise. Thanks.

Actually if your looking for a lighter weight than the 1.1 DL, the 1.7 SL is a touch lighter and you use an underquilt so no need for a second pad holding layer... There are lighter hammocks, but man do I love my Blackbird.

If you have good sewing skills, find some 1.5+ fabric and make a warbird.

I thought about a DIY but right now, time and space are an issue. I'm looking to buy something and down the road make exactly what I want. The TTT looks pretty awesome. Leaning that direction...

Warbonnet has a 1.0 dbl that's both lighter and cheaper than the 1.7 single. If I was in the market for a new hammock, that's what I would go with.

Remember that the double layer is not only just for a pad or insulation! It's also another layer for bug protection! If in the area/s that you hike in have ferocious fliers, then a DL might be a great option to have!

Everyone talks about weight and going lighter, well I can tell you that unless you are counting ounces AND grams the weight of the hammock should not be much of a concern! As you can alter the total weight of a hammock with options to change the suspension and ridgeline, which will lower the overall weight of the hammock!

If weight was a very big concern, then something like a GT Nano 7 or the like with a custom bug net would be in order!

Also having the second layer adds to the ability to go lower (temp wise) as if you find that your insulation is not enough, then you can add a pad and wallah! Also some have carried just a space blanket as under insulation and gotten to a decent temp, so that right there lowers the pack weight!

Not sure if this helps ya, but, just something to think about!
