Remember that the double layer is not only just for a pad or insulation! It's also another layer for bug protection! If in the area/s that you hike in have ferocious fliers, then a DL might be a great option to have!

I can't stress how important I think that is. In my opinion, if you're using integrated bug netting, you should get a double layer because otherwise the mosquitoes WILL bite through the bottom, or at least that's been my experience. I have been doing DIY, but I won't be doing integrated bug netting without a double layer.

My 2 cents.

PS: Thy may be able to bite through a double layer too. I have always been a fan of non-integrated netting.

Mine is Then consider the Traveler and separate bug net. I know you said you'd prefer to have it integrated, but there's something to be said for this setup as well. When you don't need it your not carrying the weight. And the Traveler's are sweet!
