Opinions on WBBB and Traveler: Flatness of lay

So I have both the Black Bird 1.7 and the Traveler 1.7. I love the Black Bird. Get a nice flat lay each time. But my traveler not so much. So I took my Traveler out this past week and found that I got a much more of a banana lay. No matter what I did the ridge line stayed guitar string tight and just could not find my comfy spot not even after 5 nights. First question is

    1. Is the Traveler ridge line supposed to be guitar string tight or should it be like the WBBB where it can bend at 90 degrees with the finger or should it be guitar string tight?

    2. Doe other experience this same type of lay where it is much flatter in the WBBB as opposed to the Traveler.

    3. Any Hanging tip on how to hang the Traveler, I just assumed it be the same distance and same sag as the WBBB.

And what are others experiences when comparing the lay between these two hammocks especially in comparing the flatness of the lay. For me I found the traveler to be way less comfortable and more claustrophobic then the WBBB. These are different from my first impressions however I do find the Traveler to be very comfy and am glad to have it in my gear closet. Maybe I just need to play around with it a bit more

I've not found my Traveler to be as comfortable as my 'bird, but I haven't given up. An adjustable rl is in it's future, and I haven't ruled one out for the 'bird, either.

Great Idea I like the 10" ridge on the rl on the WBBB but have not tried an adjustable on the traveler. I'm not giving up on my traveler either I love it just as much but when I lay diagonal I just dont quite have enough feet room. I was running into the problem that my foot box of my TQ was hitting the inside wall of the tarp (low tight pitch bad weather) and I woke up with lots of condensation on the out side. I wish their could be a hammock with a foot box no net. Any one VENDORS any one

I know LLR - the ONLY reason I havent ponied up on a traveler hammock is because it doesnt have a footbox. I can't camp without a footbox now that I've been exposed to it.

Randy made one. I don't remember the details, but it seems like he just made a "pocket" on the foot end that captured his feet.

Raul, there was an entire, lengthy thread on that topic...the footbox on the 'bird is part of the net.

Okay, here's one of the threads where he talks about this...he tried three approaches to the "problem."

I'm lucky enough to be an owner of one of Randy's custom-made digi hammocks with ties at the foot end.

    Sure miss Randy...

What is it about the footbox that makes it a necessity for you? As Brandon has explained it doesn't affect the lay of the hammock. On a netless hammock it just keeps your top quilt or sleeping bag from falling out.
