I have the orange Speer No Tangle cord for my ridge line tie outs and Kelty Triptease for the other tie outs. But you'll get a lot of different answers on that question.

I use Kelty triptease for all of my tieouts because it reflects light at night. Makes it easier to find my hammock at night, and keeps people from tripping over guylines and ripping my tarp.

in my tenting days I used Triptease. For the last couple of months I've tried braided mason's line because it's so dang cheap by comparison. But that stuff tangles...in my shoes, the tassle on my stocking cap, catches buttons, snags on bark...perhaps because it is thinner. And when the temperature with wind chill is in the single digits and the stuff is tangling up while I try to stake out the tarp...well I was wishing I'd used something else right at that moment.

I came across an unopened bag of Triptease going through the gear heap the other day, I think I'm going to outfit my new tarp with that. I'll bring some mason's line along in the pack because it is strong and light, but it's back to the tried and true for me now.

Maybe you could try Dutch's method of converting mason's line to no-tangle line? Sounds promising bbut I haven't tried yet.

JRB self tensioning line. Pricey but you could always make your own.http://www.jacksrbetter.com/index_fi...ng%20Lines.htm

    Usually, mason's line.

I have been playing with tensioners for the last few weeks. Pan (I think) was right on about the colors; the blue heavyweight ones do not like cold temps. They get brittle.

I like the Speer No Tangle better than Mason Line, if price is no consideration. I use the Mason Line because it's so cheap and light. If it does tangle or fray I just toss it away and grab another piece from the 50-100' I carry extra in my pack. Luxury of cheap guy line.
