OG and I fished about 15-20 miles east of Stanley on the Salmon River most of one day in one section of river a few hundred yards long and got 5 or 6 decent rainbows on worms with a bit of spit shot. There are options also coming and going, the main Payette is all open for bait fishing.
    Thanks Paul, I'll be pushing to get set and make this.

    I have been reading a bunch and searching out some trip reports all over the place. Might have a fun little loop that would include the Crammer Lakes but add in some off trail alpine hiking and add in some lakes that only get a couple visitors a year. Going to check with some other folks about the route and how difficult it would be but could hit some great country and still keep us in the Crammer basin.

    For reference, Scottyb's second photo looking across the lake---the canyon right in the center is where we would be heading for the crammer lakes. Great Shots by the way

    I've always thought it would be crazy awesome to do a day hike from a base camp and just go UP. No trails, just find a way to make the ridge, fool around, then head back to camp.
    I'm still a yes, whatever the itinerary, just throwing ideas out there.

    Already drooling,

    PF I think we will likely be in a spot that we can make that a possibility. If timing works right we may have a day to push to a ridge and over to examples the other side.

    To borrow and modify a line from Steve Wright;

    Everywhere is riding distance...if you have the time.

    I should be fully retired by then, time will not be the issue, neither will distance and this is not my first distance moto trip. Some pals and I had planned an Alaska run this year (next year now), your gathering will be an excuse (and motivation) to stretch my road legs a bit while refining the moto camp kit.

    I just did a whirlwind tour of the west (Greensboro, NC -> Ft. Collins, CO) this past long weekend, and it got me itching to get out there! Can't wait!
