    Pitching on the Ground

I haven't been active in the forums for a while, so maybe this has been covered, but I'm interested in hearing people's experience if they've pitched their Clark on the ground.

I walked across Spain last year (for the second time) and plan on going again this year to walk perhaps from Amsterdam. There are a lot of forests on the Pelgrimspad trail, but not so many on the Spanish trail. I only carry about 14.5 pounds, so the Clark will take up a huge portion of my weight -- but I'd sure love to try it.

I walk with Pacer Poles, which could be used on the ends.

Anyone had any real experience pitching the Clark on the ground?

Because of the attachment of the tarp and netting to the hammock and the fact that the bug net unzips, I find my clarks the easiest of all my hammocks to go to ground.

I tried mine out in the backyard. Made the mistake of not putting anything on the ground under it and had a lot of dirt stuck to the bottom when I went to pack it back up. So, make sure you carry something for a ground sheet. The set up though was fairly easy, just use your pacerpoles to hold out the tarp and stake your tarp lines really well. Add some stakes to the loops on the hammock main body to keep it positioned and it'll work just fine. Make sure you've got a cover or some way to keep your backpack dry if it rains because with your hammock on the ground, you don't have any dry area under you. And you can't hang it off the hammock.
