I may try to build a stand also. Any good simple plans for a (stand to tree) hang???

Also, for people wanting to hike or float, may want to be at campground by 8:30a

I'm bringing my coffee cup also.
I made my half stand with a couple of six and a half foot 2x4's bolted at the top with one eye bolt and one carriage bolt. The length was determined by the truck bed. I have an 2x4 extension up for the tarp. Amsteel to the screw in ground anchor. I will know how well it works when I get there. Hope there are not to many rocks in the ground to get the anchor in.

I'll bring one of these stands along.

I changed the base length to 7' and the uprights to 7'.

I'm also bringing a stand, if someone wants to keep track of how many of us will need trees.

It’s the 1st of the year and time to see who is interested for another Arkansas Ozark Hang. We are camping again at Kyles Landing on the Buffalo River with lots to do. Many water falls in this area to hike to, floating the Buffalo River, hiking the Buffalo River Trail or just hang around at camp. The date will be March 11-13. I will be there March 10 and can stay through the 14th for anyone staying longer. Hope to see you there.

Yes Alan, and according to this trivia nut, of the 38 I calculate on the list, (30 "for sure" and 8 "possibly"), over 25% are from the Republic.

    Other trivial trivia...

It looks like we'll have floaters, fishers, fire tenders, and hikers ... I am looking forward to at least 3 out of 4 of those. (the fish are safe with me around)

We have potentially 9 states represented.

At least two folks have teased about cornbread

One will be packing a small forest and beans

And several folks may be coming prepared for 1 tree and no tree hanging. The stand show and tell should be interesting.

I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone there, learning a bunch, eating too much, and relaxing.

I actually have +2 with me. Will the road into Kyles be accessible by minivan? I think that will our only option for 3 + gear. Will there be enough trees? Any advise on what I need to bring since this camping area is new to me.

I'm looking forward to seeing you and your crew.

We had no problem getting in and out of the road in our soccer mom Honda Odyssey mini van.

If you come with the gear you brought to Fairfield last November you should be fine. Last year it rained a bit and was cool so expect wet weather this time of year.

As far as trees go, there will be somewhere to hang. Smokehouse will get as many sites as he can with trees. Several folks are bringing hammock stands for treeless hanging. And in a worse case scenario some my choose to hang in the woods several hundred yards in from the campground, but I don't expect it to come to that.

    Are you bringing your chef?

I'm lacking in the floating department, mainly as I'm not sure how comfortable I'd be with one on my car so haven't looked hard to find one. Not sure what the local laws are on fishing either, so fish are probably safe from me too (not buying an out-of-state license for a weekend). About 95% sure I'll make this one though at this point .
