Man If the distance was not so far,
I would love to go to:
the Spring MAHA, end of April,
Stay for the Hot Springs Hang first weekend of May
Then to Trail Days the following weekend, and off to hike the next week.

I get to do the last 2 of the 4 though.

Hope you all have a great time. I will be thinking of you.

    I'll be there

Looks like we'll be ending our section hike in Hot Springs on the 5th or 6th (how convenient ). I should be there and I may be able to drag a curious "ground dweller" or two from the pack along with me.

Planning on coming up Friday but will have to leave late on Saturday. Got to spend Sunday with Mom. Really enjoyed it last year and I have it posted on Blue Ridge Backpackers as well.

Ok, for somebody that is new here, where can I get the details about this hang? Like where is it actually held? Do we need to make reservations and any other important information. Sure would like to join all of you.

I'll be solo on this trip. Yes, primarily canoe, but for flat water I like a touring kayak.

I haven't done the section you're planning on doing that weekend. Would it be more suitable for a 14' canoe or a 14' touring kayak? Do you know how many people will be paddling? I can bring some extra gear if necessary.

    Looking forward to it.

The only significant rapid is just below the campground and it can be portaged for anyone not sure. The rest is like a recreational float with lots of ripply stuff. But it could be bigger this year because of all the rain we've had and the levels are high. So it could make it have more waves or wash it out, we'll have to see. As for which boat, I don't think it will really matter except I wouldn't bring a fiberglass or pretty boat because it might get scratched up. Which ever one you're happy with. I will be in my little 7' play boat. There are 7 or 8 of us paddling so far too!!!
