She is also about to sew an insulated hammock using the climashield, which I want her to double the bottom up on the butt and shoulders.
Preacha Man, It got down to 20 degrees here last night and 2 layers of 5oz. climashield in my quilt was definately NOT overkill for me. It might go to 15 degrees with reasonable clothing, but I'm not sure. John

Is that 15 degrees for a top, or bottom quilt? Most definetly the Bottom will need more insulation because of convection.

Two layers for an 3/4 underquilt (40 by 48?) with one layer for a Jardine style topquilt plus a CCF pad for your feet sounds like a plan. You can always wear clothes to plus up the top quilt.

40 is a good width for minimizing bulk, a few inches more narrow felt a little too narrow. as for length, i like the length from the back of my neck to several inches past my crotch.

the amount of insulation you need also greatly depends on how efficient the design is, any sizeable air gap between the uq and hammock can greatly decrease warmth and efficiency, as will any loft compression or not having a nice tight seal around the edges.
