    Another newbie from TN

Hello all, I'm new to hammock camping and look forward to getting tips from all the experience gathered here.

I started kayak camping last year and a few people in my group were using hammocks. They all seemed to love them and sleeping on the ground was really becoming uncomfortable (back troubles). I looked at couple of different models and settled on an ENO Doublenest.

I've only spent about ten nights in it so far but I'm really loving the comfort.

I'll be more of a lurker on the site, but will still chime occasionally.

    Thanks,

    Van_Homan

Welcome Van, I too am a kayak camper who discovered hammock camping. Now, I wouldn't have it any other way. I've even scrapped my bed at home in favour of a hammock it's helped my back so much.

Welcome Van_Homan to the guy with the second-best avatar (next to mine ). That ENO is nice and roomy and you'll get a lot of enjoyment out of it. Glad you made the transition from ground dweller to happy hanger.

    Kayak Camping

    Welcome Van,
I recently did a multi day camping trip down the Tennessee River from Chattanooga (http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ennessee+river ) I loved it. I'm looking for more river camping trips. Do you have any favorites?

    Thumbs up

Hey Van and welcome to HF from Nashville! Consider this an invite to a meeting we are holding tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon at The Gerst Haus at 2:00. Officially, it's the Nashville Backpackers meetup.com group. You are welcome to join us. We have local over-nighters planned this month at Montgomery Bell State Park and in February at Long Hunter State Park, especially for newbies. We also do Appalachian Trail section hikes and also some kayaking during warm months.

Link to the meetup.com group is:
    http://www.meetup.com/backpackers-166/

Several members are also HF members and hammockers. Several have gear to share and we're all happy to answer questions and coach new folks, if they want.

In any event, it'd good to see another Nashvillian on HF.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

Iggy, I really like paddling the Buffalo River. I've never done any overnighters on it, but I know several people who have.

Rain Man, You were actually on my first kayak camping trip back in the summer of 2009. We paddled out to Bear Island on J. Percy Priest. I've seen some of your trips posted and wanted to go but either work or family events overlapped.
Good to see you on here.
