Patrick converted a TNF bag to an underquilt...look on WB for pics and some details. There are probably some pics of a bag to top quilt somewhere but I don't think I've seen any.

IMPOSSIBLE JUST TAKES LONGER

The link above shows a rectangular bag conversion HE (Coffee) posted.
I didn't take any pics, but yeah I've made 2 converted sleeping bag UQs. They are both about 3/4 length and HEAVY! I used cheap $15 bags from Target, which is why they are so heavy. I just hacked-up the bags and followed the KAQ design with modified lengths. The nylon harvested from the bags was the limiting factor and the reason for the shorter length.
Trust nobody!
well, if it is not a mummy bag, but instead a nice rectangular bag that opens all the way, unzip it, and sew a draw cord tube. then add a shock cord through the short sides so it bundles up at the ends and sew tieouts in the 4 corners. then use string to tie that to the suspension.
or, just sew tieouts on the 4 corners of webbing, and put it under the hammock, pull the corners over the sides of the quilt and use string to tie them together. and also string the, to the suspension.
I took a rectangular down bag from Campmore, $125.00, and shook the down to one side. I then sewed a seam down the side of the unzipped bag that would shorten the width of he bag by one foot. Then I folded the seam over to stop the edges from fraying and sewed it again. I then removed the zippers and sewed the opened bag closed on the foot side and closed up about 2 feet to make a foot box. My quilt will not open up again; it IS a top quilt. It weights only two pounds, which is what a Speer Snugfit weighs, but much more loft than a Jacks R Better. The down is only 550 fill instead of Jack's 800 or 900 fill, but it is warmer that the JRB top quilt and I use it when I think it will be below freezing.
Hope this helps a little. Mule

nice thing (as redundant as it is) bout low fp down in winter, since it is heavier, you wont kick it off as easily with the light weight stuff. but for anything besides car camping, it has its weak points.
but 2lbs and warmer then a JRB? what model. good job with it tho.
I just weighed everything and took a picture. The JRB is only twenty two ounces for the over quilt I have and the Speer Snugfit is 32 ounces. My DIY quilt seems twice as heavy. I just got it out to check the loft. It has four + inches for my DIY and weighs 35 ounces. See picture too. Mule
