    Hemmer Foot for thread injector?

Anyone tried the "hemmer" foot for their thread injector? I got a 1/4" hemmer foot for my Singer 301 and tried it out on some ripstop and polyester. Once I got the handle on the technique, it made a beautiful rolled hem that looks like it came from a factory. Just curious why I haven't seen anything on HF about this little gadget. It only cost about $14.00, new, and they are made for almost any injector. Your input would be appreciated.

Basic pdf how to use instructions. Haven't used one myself. Haven't gotten down to sewing much yet.

The topic has come up quite frequently. Always with the same result. I have never been able to get them to work. My wife (professional seamstress) can roll a hem better and faster without them. But there are those on the forum who love them for the reasons the OP cited. It's a personal preference thing. Nothing wrong with them if you can use them. I find them more of a pain than they are worth (to me). In short... knock yourself out. Like just about everything else... if you like them, that's reason enough to use them.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I agree with Rev, I love my zipper foot, but the hem foot is a little tricky. I think I need to add some sticky pads to the feed dogs.

I found a big difference between the one I got off Ebay and the one from the sewing store made by the manufacturer of the machine..
Spend the bucks on the name brand, practice on lots of scraps.

Something that is not often mentioned... Some of the machines are being made with rubberized feed dogs. These _do_ wear out particularly if the machine just sits. (Worst thing you can do for rubber.) They are relatively easy and inexpensive to replace. If your feed dogs have teeth you don't need to worry about that. But if they appear to be smooth you should definitely look into replacing them if you have trouble with fabric feed.

I used a rolled hem foot to sew Noseeum netting baffles on my underquilt project. The result looked great, however the added friction stretched out the netting slightly, resulting in inches of netting left over at the ends. With DWR rip-stop and silnylon I had no problems whatsoever.
