Illustration - Triangle Underquilt Suspension Adapters

Absolutely great D. Really does a excellent job of explaining how they work.

I just added the illustration to our site so that folks can see it there and get a better sense of how they work. I also updated the colors they are offered in, adding out stealth green to the options list. And for what it is worth we have started building them ahead of time so they are in stock and ship within a day or so.

For the DIY folks the adjustable clips we use are our LineLock3's paired with mitten clips, and 1/2" GGR. The edges are bound with our 1" GGR and we run 1/8" shock cord down to the quilt corners with a set of Micro carabiners to clip onto the quilt with. They are a swarm of AHE parts and pieces.

I put clips on all three corners of the triangle and looped the end of UQ shock cord, thus I still adjust at the UQ corners.

The only challenge I had with my triangle was attaching the UQ. Since I didn't have any mitten hooks, and had no immediate reason to call Paul at AHE to buy $0.75 worh of stuff, I found I could use a cordlock as a toggle.

The Triangle is left on the hammock, and to attach the UQ, I take the suspension shock cord, and pass the cord lock through the loop on the triangle. Once the UQ is adjusted, setup and take down are quick and easy as I don't have to re-adjust the suspension since the cordlock stays on the shock cord....

Actually, the triangles were originally hangnout's idea, so he should get the credit. He posted them in someone else's thread and I prompted him to start a new one because it seemed like such a great idea. Paul just worked out a deal to manufacture and sell them.

Thanks Jerry! I opted for a more "generic" name, or something that wasn't possibly trademarked because I knew others beyond Paul were responsible for their discovery. I did talk with Paul before drawing this and he is using the illustration on his site. Hopefully it works for everyone, but I can customize it for anyone who is commercializing them, for a small fee

Agreed, at a minimum a pamphlet that concatenates them. But toss in more text, "An Illustrated Guide to Hammock Camping". I'm sure we have writers among us to help out....

One quick note on triangle thingies for DIYers. If you make the base of the triangle too wide, then the corners might end up in line with where traditional under quilt suspension runs, providing no benefit. Don't ask me how I know.

Explains the concept perfectly. They work best on hammocks with bugnets and ridgelines. Without a bugnet you can go directly to the ridgeline and not use the triangles.
