Tried to upload a couple of photos today, but they don't appear to be there.
It is unfortunate that the term "inactive" is used to describe those who do not post. There are many ways to be participatory without posting. As many have already stated, many come to read. To me, they are just as much of an active member as those who post, because without the readers, those who write do so for naught. While I understand this is a "discussion" forum, IRL a large group discussion has many participants who are actively engaged in the process spanning the entire continuum of talking/listening. Thus I personally do not label those who "read only" as "inactive" (though the software does make the distinction) nor do I label those who "post only" (never read) as inactive. The only way to know if someone is "active by reading only" is to require they login in order to read. Though I do not recommend this as it will reduce engaging future members. That's my 3cents.
This is a photo of the first night I spent in a hammock on the trail, May 2010 in Baxter State Park, ME at Katahdin Stream Campground. When assigned to our site the only, the canopy post was used as one of the trees. I carried the hammock on my hike for 373 miles. The hammock and trap (notice the pole mod w/carbon fibre pole) were loaned to me by MedicineMan. This is what made me a hanger.

"reading withOUT logging in" ?? I click on hammockforum and mine automatically logs me in. I agree with Shug. When I first found this site I was all over it. Checking/asking questions, trying to figure everything out. I still don't have it figured out, and I am still interested with all the disscusions.

Like others have said, I had a ton of questions when I got into this. I was constantly participating in threads, now I don't really have many questions. I usually check the forum once to twice a day but mostly read and post answers to others questions.

After I posted I remember this thread that I started a long time ago. It may be of interest to some. http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=5385

And as a moderator on other sites, I can tell you that MANY folks lose/forget their passwords and either are clueless or don't go through the hassle of requesting it or creating another. What appears simple to some is a major quandary for others. It's easier for them to simply poke around without officially logging in.

Heh heh... Shug nailed it, fer sure.
I was a total freak when I first joined -- posting replies to everything that moved.
I'm still a freak and love checking in to see what all you creative problem solvers are up to. There are just so many clever ways to hang and set up rigs. I always learn something when I pop over here.
P.S. -- Great thread!

Hi,
I have been a (Happy) member here since 03-02-2007, have posted 64 times and have 15 photos in my gallery. My last sign-in was on 12-29-2010. I try and sign-in whenever I visit but may not every time.
My posts have been mostly about using Cuben Fiber for a Hammock and other pieces of gear.
My digital camera broke and I am having a hard time deciding what kind to replace it with so I don't have pictures of anything recent to post. I also am not sure anything I have done recently is worth posting.
