I honestly haven't done any cold weather hanging in the three years I've been using hammocks. Until now.

I received a Warbonnet BlackBird in the mail yesterday as an upgrade to my circa 2008 DD Traveler and wasted no time setting it up in the barn, with whoopie slings, to see how she flew. The barn is non-insulated, with many cracks, so it gets fairly cold inside on cold winter nights but it blocks most of the wind. I figured, due to lack of yard space, it'd be a good place to practice.

I went out to the barn at 10pm, the temperature was 19°F, and I proceeded to snuggle in for the night. Other than some underquilt shifting and the ridgeline being a tad too tight (due to angle of suspension), I slept fine and was actually too warm on a few occasions. The low ultimately got down to 14°F.

Very pleased with how this hang went despite not being outside and exposed to the wind. It was still quite cold. Now I need to look into a way to rig something up outside so I can get a slightly better angle on the hang.

Sorry, no pics. Orientation of the hang in the barn makes it difficult to photograph properly.
