    North Florida peeps...

I'm doing a day hike along the Suwannee this Sunday.

I'm still pondering which trail head to start at but I'm hoping to be on the trail by 7:30am or so. I'm planning on walking a little bit, finding a place to hang near/on the river. Relaxing, reading a book, napping, lunch then walking back out.

Possible trail heads to start at:
SW 79 Terrace - Just north of Live Oak
Spring House - Neat White Springs
    Holton Creek WMA

TFC Rick, I'm going to leave from the Spring House trail head in White Springs and head north...or west...or West North West. You're more than welcome to join.

I'll be leaving Orange Park around 6am and it's about 80 miles from my house.

If you've got any questions, just reply or PM.

    Cheers!

Hey Guys, I was too late on reading your post but I just finished a hike there going from Stephen Foster State Folk Culture Center to Gibson Park. I left on Jan 2nd. for 3 nights 4 days. The only issue was when I reached the Holton River Camp, the camp host inforced the no hammocks in state parks rule. He was a very nice man but unfortunately I slept on the hard cabin floor. Well not really slept.

It's sad that we have to avoid State Parks in Florida. Hopefully, at the Florida hang, we can continue to find ways to support Sunny'sTrike in his initiative to do something about this.

The camp host at Holton did recognize that something should be done for us. I spent a few hrs talking with him and he mentioned putting in a few posts in the ground so we can use the campsite. Ironically, when I got back I read in Sunnys post, there is a push for the "hanging posts!" Keep up the good work. I'll be looking forward talking about it @ the Florida hang.

I camped at one of the river camps last year on a kayak trip, I think it was Holton. I managed to hang inside the shelter. If I remember, there was one eyebolt in the frame of the wall, and I just happened to have another in my pack. The host never walked back to the shelter I was in....
