Anyone using snake skins with NX 150/250?

I've wondered how much of a hassle is it using skins and having to remove the spreader poles each time, for even temporary use of skins...

The spreader rods are removed each time anyways so that wouldn't be an issue . . .

I don't use SS, but I might like to.

I would think as long as the SS are large enough It sould be all good.

    Thanks, Bradley...
I guess the crux of my question is, how long does it take to insert/remove the spreaders.

I recently received a set of SS's. Although I opted to only use them for the tarp of my NX-250. They work great for that. I just got it set up or I would see how they work on the hammock. From the looks, I would think it would be a tight fit and you probably would not be able to put the hammock and the tarp in the SS's together. I havent tried so it might be possible, just seems like it would be tight.

I made and use snake skins for both my tarps (large Clark for summer and Super Shelter with doors for winter) and really like them. I do not use snake skins on my NX-250, as it seems just as easy to me to just use the integral pocket provided. It works well for me.

Hi Captain, where did you get them? Do they match quality and color?

I use skins on the WB SuperFly for my NX-250

but it seems to me that skins for the hammock body make less sense. Packing the body in the attached pocket is quite easy when the fly doesn't have to fit in as well.

I bought a Thermarest stuffsack (long and skinny) that is long enough to hold the spreader poles in their sleeve (I sewed a simple one) and is set up with amelted hole at one end for the suspension. Bulkier than the hammock body in the pocket, but somewhat easier to pack as the stuffsack is not volleyball-shaped.

I got them on Amazon. I think they are only making one size now. As far as the color is concerned, the skins are brown which matches nothing on the Clark but doesnt look bad either. They work great for the tarp only. Really makes it super easy to hang and take down. I use the built in pocket to pack the hammock in. You could probably find a way to pack the tarp up that would take up less space than the skins but it would be as easy to put up and take down. Hope this helps.
