What weight Climasheild XP UQ ??

    For 3 season.

Have a golite ultra 20 that is really good to 20dF. Actually had it down to 14dF.

Have a 2 layer hammock and I carry 2 half pieces of CCF
for the body area or under the legs. For colder weather I would carry
1 full length and 2 half pieces or full with wings.

    That goes between the layers.

I want to build an UQ that will go down to 20dF with the pads but not quite sure what weight I need. Figuring like 4' W x 4' L. Maybe 5 oz XP ??

    Tammons,

I have a Moutain Laurel Designs quilt that I asked Ron to set up as an UQ. 657 grams and good to 30. I also have the same as a top quilt but the lighter insulation 409 grams and good to 45. Both of those weights include suspension and stuff sacks. They use Apex instead of XP but if you look at the sight it might give you some ideas.

    tammons:
look at the DIY kits from AHE. In his kit you get the 6oz Climashield HL (HighLoft). I made one of these kits into a 3/4 length quilt and took it to the mid 20's with a pad only under my but and feet, I was having sealing issues with the 3/4 length on a BB. I am a warm sleeper and the quilts are rated to the 30's by Paul. I have two of his New River KAQ's and have used them as a UQ & TQ and been very comfortable to the mid 20's. Give these quilts a looksee if you are looking at doing a DIY Synth Quilt.

I made an UQ using climashield XP...I'm a pretty warm sleeper and 20*F would be pushing it a little bit...
I would plan for more 25-30*F for that UQ (being conservative)
