    Smile The Balloonatic from michigan

Howdy all. so here is my introductory letter to the forum. my name is Tim I go by the balloonatic on the trail since I always have balloon animals with me and use them for my pillow or anything else i might need it for. I am a professional balloon artist by trade check out my avatar to see one of my pics of van gough painting sunflowers.

I bought my first hammock last spring and fell in love with the comfort and the relaxation that comes with it. my first one is a grand trunk ultra light, and it is currently hanging in my room where i use it as a bed every night. I am looking to get my second one soon. any advice would be great I can't decide between a war bonnet or a clark nx 250. Probably looking for slightly used to save a couple bucks if possiable. I am six foot one and about 250ish so keep that in mind if you have any ideas.

I will be thru hiking the A.T. this year starting in march.

well that’s it for now, I really dig this site.
and if any one lives in the eastern Michigan area and be willing for me to come by and check out there system let me know. I will be at the hang in rifle river in February but would like to order some of my gear before then.

Hi Tim - welcome to the forum

Have you ever tried a balloon bed ? I've heard of lightweight folk using balloons to make a mattress.

Welcome from another Michigander. You're gonna love it here... heaps of good info and good people. Already feeling a little jealous of your planned AT hike.
    Good luck,

I have made one before but find a hammock is much more comfortable. plus a good mattres would take about thirty balloons and for a week or so it would add up.
theres nothing much i have not tried I have three international championships and a guiness world record. I would be interested to see pics if any one else has made stuff for camping.

Welcome from another Michiganian on the other side of the state. Stay in touch about that Rifle River hang. Anxious to hear how that goes. Dive in and have fun.
