Lol, they don't need thumbs - the cats have already 'rethreaded' the sewing machine. I normally sew in the attic, but it is too cold up there now. I have to cover my stuff at night or it would be a disaster.

Do not trust a cat's evaluation of outdoor gear.
Many years ago I bought a TNF Lunar Light tent, and set it up in the living room. I was laying in it when one of the cats walked over, looked inside, stepped over the door sill, walked the perimeter of the tent, and proceded to lay down beside me and assumed the "happy sphinx" posture. I took that to mean that she approved of the tent.
Well, that tent's door design caused rain to drip onto my face. Every time I got wet I thought of that cat.
Jim
That wasn't an assessment of the tent's design the cat had, that was an all knowing, I can see it dripping on him now, moment of satisfaction that the cat had.
The difference is in the smile. They are tricky animals to decode.
Having a cat around my gear would make me nervous. I keep getting visions of many tiny claw holes :P
My dogs are not too interested when I'm making gear. I guess they just learned I'm not going to pet them while I'm in gear maker mode, so they just go lay on their beds. The puppy is afraid of large pieces of material, so she splits out the dog door anytime she sees the thread injector some out
I don't mind their company as long as they don't walk on my fabric!
Life is hard? Compared to what?
I sewed it on the wrong side and turned it to make the edges look nicer. You do that all the time when you make clothing.
Speaking of making clothing, I was making a fleece jacket for myself from a new pattern and I totally messed up, I'm glad my hammock is looking better than the jacket. I had to rip all the seams out and I'm going to redo it this weekend.
Hubby keeps asking for his windstop fleece jacket also - so many things to sew.
Don't worry about the kitty on the hammock, I keep everyone's nails really short so if there are any fights no one gets hurt. I also have a rabbit that plays with the cats so I keep the nails dull. I figured, the dog is gonna sleep in the hammock so she might as well 'help' me make it.
Now my dog hides when you get out the broom, cause one fell on her once!
