    Hanging Hammock Inside

Hey, I have the ENO DBL...looking to hang it up inside my house so i can use it when im not camping. I want to try putting some hooks in the wall at the right distance so I can just attached the carabiners straight to the hooks...is this a good idea? and what kind of hooks if it is...

    thanks

Hey Shane! I'm sure you will get a ton of replies on this one. There are several threads here discussing the various ways to hang indoors. The common denominator in all of those discussions is find the center of the stud and don't skimp on the hardware/fasteners.

I have beefy wood paneling in my house and used a swing bracket from Ikea to go into the stud and also the panels. I'm 310 and it supports me, my hammock and behemoth DIY pod. I think my brackets are roughly 13-14 feet apart. A touch close but it works well enough.

    Good luck and enjoy!

I did that in my house, in my son's room. I put large eye-bolts directly into the studs. You can use my hammock hang calculator to estimate the hang height based on the distance between the walls.

I have mine hanging in my livivng room from lag bolts i got a home depot. they are around $3 and have a working weight of about 270 to 300lb. they say not to use to support human weight but I am not swinging on them or climbing and falling just sitting. Been using them a while now and are sturdy and cost me only $6 to hang my hammock.

Lag type eye bolts here. Take a small nail and find both sides of the stud. Mark the center between the lines and you have the middle of the stud. You can buy light weight spackling to fill the little holes. Like they never even happened.

...some stud finders give you a pretty accurate picture of the stud and it's outlines. I have a cheap Black and Decker that does this...also points out electrical and plumbing and has a laser level. I think it was around $20
