    Please describe your underquilt suspension.

Hi all. I've DIYed up my underquilt, and triangle-thingies. I have a bunch of 1/8th inch shock cord and a hand full of cord locks. Just wondering about what would be the best, most adjustable way to rig it all together. My underquilt has channels on all 4 sides.

    Thanks in advance

For what it's worth, I have the JRB No Sniveler. To attach, the quilt has two tabs on each end. I use a 12" piece of shock cord with loops on each end, and mini-biners attached. The cord is girth hitched to my whoopie sling, near the hammock knot. Then biners hang down at that point, so I loop them around the line once, then attach to UQ. There's a few pics of this on JRB's site. http://www.jacksrbetter.com/Suspension%20System.htm

Worked fairly well for me so far. Wouldn't be hard to do the same with your set up I imagine.

How do you actually attach that? Run the hammock suspension line through the loop made by the lateral lines?

I am big fan of the the Draw Channel suspension system like the Crows Nest or Yeti. Find it easier to adjust sag of UQ in comparison to JRB suspension system.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

How is that accomplished? For the longitudinal lines, is there a loop of shock cord doubled back through a toggle to adjust the length?

I tried adding a cord lock and loop of shockcord to bring the suspension lines together along the ridgeline but it didn't work real well, I think because there was too much friction and it wasn't moving freely.

Another alternative I tried, that did work pretty well, was to run a cord vertically from each end of the UQ over the ridgeline to pull the corners up. Of course that was a lot of extra rigging.

The triangle idea seems like a very good solution. Now I have something new to try. Thanks.

BTW I have found that a third cord, from the middle of each end helps with sag quite a bit. JRB has a mod for this for their UQs.

Here lately it has been my son's Coleman Travers 0 degree bag. I make a sandwhich of my inner bag/hammock and enjoy the $35 system. Warm and toasty!
