Depending on the date, I'll lower my standards and spend a night sleeping on a "Skimmer" Submariner talk for a surface ship, or otherwise known as a "Target". So much room and space on them I'm told.
Sounds like a good time to spend telling sea stories with a handful of HF members.

On the other hand, it may be a huge Dish to Pass of goodies we cart on board. I am thrilled though that there is this much interest, and I am sure that if we can make this work, it will be a world class HF event.
    1. Obviously a virgin sacrifice over a giant, roaring bonfire just isn't gonna happen, but what about a virgin sacrifice over a little propane stove? Would that be doable?
    2. Pizza and poptarts? Really??

You realize that if this thing happens, it's going to need an appropriately cool patch!

Wow! What a great opportunity, if it can be swung(no hammock humor intended). I spent 4 years on an aircraft carrier, so it would be interesting to see how the WWII sailors lived back then on one of the old Victory ships. Although checking it out on Youtube, its funny how little things have changed since then, the same watertight doors, sound powered telephones, and the head, still look the same. Except we had 3 high racks and on the video(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-T53rgU15Q) they only show 2 high racks, still look as uncomfortable as ever though!
Oh, and here's a video of her main machinery room and main engine for my fellow Machinist's Mates.

Hey Flackfizer, any idea on a time frame for this will happen?

It's close enough to home that it won't matter much for Timberrr and me, but I suspect there might be some folks interested in participating that would have to do some planning to get there.

As usual, I'm a little late to the party. Sorry for being asleep at the wheel. This sort of hang sounds like a lot of fun. Not something you'll do everyday, that's for sure. Hopefully, we'll be able to talk with some of the crew and listen to their stories. There's nothing better than sea stories. Real and imagined.

Hey Gumbo... count me in as a sous chef for whatever you need. If we have a galley available, we can really cook up something special.

I'll pay more attention now I know this thread is going. Great job Flackfizer. This is a tremendous idea.

My mind is racing with possibilities for meals. But I have to say, that gumbo was pretty darn good. Wouldn't mind a repeat.

Kind of funny... just today, I received a special package from Wally World. My own personal 10 qt Lodge Dutch Oven. I cannot wait to try my first meal in the back yard! One of the highlights of the entire Ocala Hang weekend was the unbelievable great food coming from the dutch ovens. For me, it was a sensory memory to cherish. Too bad the DO would not be acceptable onboard the ship.

Can't wait to use the new Boatabag! Wondering if I should have gotten two.

Andy - I will be in touch soon. I really do want to kayak the upper Suwannee and I know you will be the perfect guide!

The stove display was impressive and my husband Tim brought home an empty Heineken can to make an alcohol stove. Since we aren't really backpackers weight is not really an issue, but smaller is always better for packing on the yaks.
