I no longer have my HH ULBP Asym but I kept the tarp as I really want to like it...but, no matter how I rig it there is a sag in the center that I cant get tight. I just came in from trying one last time and the only thing I can think of is that the factory hem is not allowing it stretch tight (I'm almost sure of it). So before I take a seam ripper to the factory hem has any one else had this problem and/or made this kind of mod to their HH tarp?
Oh man Kmack ....from what i remember of mine from 2 years ago i think mine had some sag in it as well....
i can't remember if it was the tarp...or the way i had it set up
maybe someone that has one can chime in
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold
can you fix it by hanging the tarp over a ridgeline?

Weird. I'm using some 1/8" braided cord, with a bowline and micro-biner on one end, and a trucker's hitch on the other end. I run the tarp over the ridgeline, with prusiks on each end of the tarp fastening the tarp to the ridgeline for easy adjustment and tensioning. The tarp really can't sag... the ridge is guitar-string tight and there's noplace to go. You can see in the picture it's a pretty straight line.
maybe stretch it out flat on the ground. anchor the corners and see if it wrinkles in the middle. If it does that should tell you that the seams are keeping it from being taught. If it does lay flat then it's your rigging of it.
Don't know if this might be of interest to any one, but here goes:
This was when I was experimenting with hanging the HH tarp as close to HH directions as possible. If mem. serves, I was puilling tight over the HH Explorer RL FIRST and staking, THEN tightening along the ends. This resulted in a pretty crisp RL, although now you can see some ridges running sideways.
Still, it was impressively tight for this tarp not even tied to trees. The side ridge were not so obvious if I did not pull down quite so tight on the RL when staking to the ground. But I was experimenting with this approach- along with some bungees between tarp and ground stakes, trying to deal with the sag you get when attaching to HH Prussics. This all helped a lot, but was not a complete cure for the infamous after entry tarp sag.
