Can't wait to hear your findings, Jsaults! I have yet to use my reflectex pad that came with my DJ.
I always carry a piece of reflectix as a sit pad and for in the hammock if needed under butt, back or knees. Good and warm for me.

Pot cozies. That's the only place I use it. Mostly because it's kind of fragile and non-compressible.

I've used the large foam reflectix windshield garde with realy good luck.

Reflectix works great, sometimes too great! I wouldn't use a full pad if it's above 40° unless your a cold sleeper. I would reserve it for 35° and below. Unless you are making multiple pads you can just purchase an $8 jumbo auto sun shield made from the same stuff at Wally World. Trim it to the shape you want. I also have a couple of smaller pieces, edged with duck tape (to extend the life of it) for a sit pad and foot box pad.
Great conversations on this topic. I agree that using it in conjunction with an underquilt might produce the best results. Originally I was worried about crushing the air pockets, but that won't be an issue if it is also performing the role of a vapor barrier.
Do you use it inside the layers of a double hammock then the underquilt below?
Or do you hand the underquilt and make a holder for the reflectex to nest outside that?
I'm confused...not the first or last time...
the pockets of my CJH NX-250. Under that will be my Hammock Gear 3-season Crowsnest. I am counting on the gaps between the pads at the pocket seams to act as little vents to minimize condensation.
At least, that is my hypothesis.
