    sewing machines

    just looked at sewing machines on ebay...prices varry a lot..i have never sewed before..would like to try it...is there a machine that would do hammocks,straps & netting..without breaking me...this will be a tryout to see if i like it and can do it..thanks

    you could go the craigslist route. picked up a 1965 Gimbels for $35. Works like a charm, sews only a straight stitch and I've done straps, a UQ and a hammock sock. Real basic stuff at a real cheap price. You could take your new CL buy to a local shop and they can do a tuen-up for you which is usually around $50.

    is the one u bought HD or do i need a heavy duty one/zig zag etc.

    Any machine will work. Having one that does zig-zag is a nice feature, but ultimately not neccessary, just to start out on.
    Craiglist is a good start, Sears sells a low end for around $80 (on sale).

    If your not sure get one on craiglist and your investment will be at a minimum. You might get lucky and get a great find for cheap...
