I'll second the coolness factor. The guys I hunt and camp with are always amazed at my gear. First it's not like anything they have seen before and second I made almost all of it. Very cool indeed!

If you are like me and have to outfit 3 people (me +2 kids) it can get very expensive. But by DIYing my own gear and thiers it has saved me a bundle. I have 2 tarps to make, 2 sets of snakeskins for said tarps and BB bags for all 3 hammocks to make. The biggest problem I have found with DIY is finding the time to make everything I want and when I sit down it takes some time to decide what to start with.

Ditto on that. I'm outfitting my family and then my extended family... it would break the bank otherwise.

Once you get it down too your gear will work better than the store bought.

There are some directions on this site for hammocks, quilts, socks, skins, tarps.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?
