Very informative. I actually have the DVD that this bit of video is from. The DVD is on the Ray Mear Eco Sleep System which is basically a hammock with separate bug net and a hoochie as a tarp. Not sure if the DVD is still available on his website since he doesn't sell the sleep system anymore. It was actually Ray Mears episode that got me interested in hammocks in the first place.

    Love Ray Mears.

His adjustable knot looks like its just a slippery prussik tied in the hand.

Stumbled across this again the other day after being buried in my favorites tab forever ago.

I like the webbing knot he ties for adjustability at 2:01. Shanewalker10 was asking the other day about ways to make webbing work with a hammock with a carabiner passed through the end channel. I think that fits the bill quite nicely. I hope he tries it out and reports back on whether it works or not.

That knot is a slipped adjustable grip hitch.

EDIT: Sorry, that's only if you're talking about the first knot he ties in the video. On a second reading, I wasn't sure.

When I'm car camping, I take Ray along. We've tried several of his techniques and most are not as easy has he makes it look but we've never had problems with the knotts.
