Thanks to everyone for all the inspiration!
I got my 16 4ft aluminum poles from the eBay seller yesterday. All I currently have is some paracord, so I lashed them up into tripods and made some hanger loops by doubling up the paracord and putting an alpine butterfly/lineman's loop on two ends, as pictured.
Where are you guys getting these continuous loops you have? Not absolutely sure the paracord is the best thing to hang from, but doubled up it should be able to do 1100 pounds in theory I guess it is likely to stretch?
I just loop the loop over the center leg and lashing.
I prefer continuous loops I make out of Amsteel, either tied with a double fisherman's knot (as seen if the first photo) or spiced. I also am trying out sewn mule tape loops on one setup.
Here is the continuous loop thread made of Amsteel;

Dixoncreations, Don't you love those aluminum poles! They feel so solid after all my bamboo and 1/2" EMT conduit stands.
That is some pretty lashing! I like that brown paracord.
When I have hung my ridgepole ( and body ) from paracord, I have preferred to make a large loop that can be tripled up. Only one knot required, and it takes less stress.
Remember to hang no higher than you are willing to fall!
Welcome to the club! Happy hanging.

Has anyone made the tripods using three sizes of PVC pipe so they could slide together for storage??
Thanks! Hung from my paracord loops for about an hour yesterday afternoon and didn't see anything that would cause concern. Not sure why I deemed it necessary to do it the way I did, but it works. Seems much more logical to make a large loop with a single knot. Unfortunately i'm out of cord now. Ordering a few continuous amsteel loops from WhoopieSlings today, which I will use in place of my concoction when they arrive.
LOVING this setup!
I have been hanging in my unfinished basement by the floor joists. As you know, hanging from that height, I have to have my attachment point quite a distance apart. How about a hybrid TurltleLady set-up. Suspend a conduit/fence rail strait down from joists, then attach hammock to rail? No more straps across most of the room.
Suggestions/comments?
