    Suggestions/comments?
Should work ... eye bolts in the joists, plus eye bolts in the ridge pole, some kind of suspension in between.

Not sure how it'd be any different than hanging from the joists themselves, though. Is it not the same thing?

Advantage is not needing to have the strap extend too far to get the hammock at the right height with the right sag.

I just love the fact that at one time TL wasn't a hanger....and now look at her! Obsessed like the rest of us! VERY cool stand. If someone could invent one that is around 2 lbs tops and collapsible so it would fit in my pack, it would probably change my entire outlook on hiking the PCT.

This is part of a post on TurtleDog stand thread . . . yet this stand is more a turtlelady.

gmcttr and the rest have inspired some followers.
Those who experimented with the details; imaged+explained early military-alum-pole-tripods have made a path to follow.

We have the alum poles for 3 tripods+2 ridgepoles. Snapbuttons have been ordered from graingers.

The lashing is very compelling. A beautiful thing. Strong and basic. Some good images here that demonstrate it well.
Yet . . . I am drawn to the hardware.
    Agfadoc has imaged+explained it well.

    Have some new-old-stock eyebolts ( surplus from a project 20yrs ago ).

    Currently : comtemplating . . .
Working on an alum-turtlelady stand or an alum-artjrk-hardware-turtlelady as agfadoc did.

Will you "explain+image" this when you get a chance ?

Remove the stock bolt and wing nut, buy a longer carriage bolt and nut.

Put it back together using the longer bolt and the nut in place of the wing nut.

Grind the end of the bolt to a point.

Put the plug in the end of the tube snug the nut up until the plug is tight in the tube, then you have a spike to stick in the ground to keep the leg from kicking out.

This also keeps the tube from filling up with dirt or mud.

You can leave them in or take them out when you take it down. I take mine out because I don't want to poke anything with the point, plus they make the poles a little too long for the bag. If you need me to, I can take a picture of mine tomorrow for you.

    GroundHog,

I have added this post information here to the turtlelady stand thread with the other alum pole info.

Thanks for the explanation and the link.

Good explanation. I can imagine it. Yet . . .
you know the crew will want pictures / images.

This is a terrific two purpose solution : Micro spikes and dirt caps.

Got mine made a few days ago, I've lounged around in it for a while, and this morning I slept in it for a few hours after I go of off work this morning. I like it, but after looking and thinking i have the space to just put some I-bolts on the wall in my family room and just hang it like that, but the stand will stay around for backyard use.
