    Floating floor padding

I was at Menards today and they have a roll of padding for under wood floors, ⅛" foam just like electronics would be packaged in. It is 30 ft long and 3.3 ft wide for $24. Would being only about half the width needed be a problem for an underquilt? Any issues with having a seam in the UQ insulation? I figured if I used it, I would stager the layers so one is split at the center, and the next off to the sides, etc… Any suggestions for how to join the pieces?

I have some of that left over from a floor installation. I have been thinking about using some headliner spray adhesive and a mylar space blanket to make an insulation sandwich...

The stuff I got from HD has plastic that over laps the joint with its own adhesive. I have been tempted to try an UQ.

I got a roll of floor underlayment for further experiments with a woven lattice of insulating strips. Got the idea here.

I found it's not flexible or drapable (SP?) to make it as an underquilt. I have a 18" square I use to prevent CBS, and it works well.

One of my Kids used a piece as a pad in her hammock and was warm down to about 50-degrees. It might work well in a Double-layer or a DL bridge hammock... It tears easily, though, so as an in-hammock pad, I'm not sure it's durable enough.

if it was quilted inside of another material I don't see why it'd rip... the seems would take most of the stress of movement. If it's not for a true UQ and just a pad then the extra seems wont matter. I think I'm going to investigate this idea.

I use the blue underlayment in my footbox - works great.
have also put it between the DL of the hammock while using a yeti - it adds some nice warmth quick!

I would be using it in an UQ, not just as a in hammock pad. It appears to be nearly the same as IX but without the "fuzz" (forget the technical term right now). I was thinking 3 or so layers sandwiched between ripstop, or maybe fleece for the top, via JustJeff's recent IXUQ design or similar.

So I was just in the shower and must have washed the brain fart away, because I finally realized my concern is over nothing. Since I am making an UQ, I don't need to worry about laying on a seam in the foam, because it will be on the other side of the hammock from me. This whole hanging thing still throws me for a loop now and then.
