Down mummy bag surrounding Nano7?

Wondering if it would be possible to pull a large size down mummy bag OVER/around/surrounding a Nano7 hammock? I'm 5 ft 10, 145 pounds, and sleep like a log, whether I get a good flat diagonal position in the hammock or hang it wrong and have to sleep all bent up. I'm not picky at all. As an ultralight backpacker, and a lazy person, and cheap, I'm not sure I want to go through all the hassle/expense/weight of a top quilt and underquilt, etc. I'm wondering if I could buy a large/long mummy bag and pull it around the hammock, thus creating an uncompressed layer of insulation all around me. I would sleep on a ccf pad between me and the hammock. Thoughts? Anybody try this? Suppose I do this with a zero degree bag. Would I be comfortable in the low single digits? Sleeping with a down jacket on and a warm balaclava?

Several have done it, and it works well for most.
Adding some shockcord suspension helps hold the SB in place.

If you got a Featherd Friends Winter Wren it would work perfectly for you.

yes; the point of the exercise is to get loft all around you- pods, 2x quilts, nested sleeping bags, with or without clothing of multiple layers and content...a layer of air which is warm and does not drift away from you is what you are after, however you get it is a successful system. how much it weighs and how much it costs are the variables you will have to prioritize.

I did a similar thing recently; a 20 degree down mummy bag outside my hammock, but with no pad. The temp got down to 20 exactly and I was very comfortable. I wore a couple layers of fleece and a down hood to bed too. I think with a 0 degree bag you should be good in the single digits, especially if you sleep easily. Hope it works out.
