I'm Chad from Greenville, SC. Prior active duty military with a tour in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Been a hammock camper since OIF 2008, but not in the depth that most of the users of this forum are. Never had to deal with cold weather and/or rain in the desert.
I've since departed from the military and work as a test engineer for gas turbine powerplants. Raised a southerner and raised to be appreciative of the outdoors.
Looking forward to learning from you all and giving my modest amounts of information when I can.
Just purchased a 3/4 Phoenix from Stormcrow and to my delight was offered a 4 season Phoenix they had overstock.
Can't wait to receive it and put it to good use. Also, upon email deliberations with Stormcrow or perhaps his wife, they've helped me decide my trail name, Kermit.
I'll post pictures soon when I get back from Pisgah or Nanahala.
Regards,
C
P.s. Nightstalker refers to my unit in the Army, the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne), not some scary stalker axe murderer reference.
Although, I do carry a hatchet while backpacking.
I ramble.....
TL;DR - Hi, nice to be here.
