4th Annual NJ winter Hang Report

JUST got home from the hang. Me, Stick, Stalker and my boys were the last ones to leave. Had a great time with some great people. Wish more people could of made it.

We had a total of 23 people for the weekend. Most came Friday, but a few came on Saturday. Low was 13degrees last night.

I'll add more pictures and a full report after I'm done unpacking and settled in.

We were all sad the weekend ended.

Glad it all went well!! I wish I could have gone, but 2 weekends "gone hikin" in a row & my wife would have hurt me.

Good thing you didn't, the King snowman was looking for you.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

I had a great time this weekend! Really nice to put names and faces together! Thanks so much to all of you for a fun time in the woods. Both the company and the food were amazing!

NOTE: The Weather Channel said the low was 13, but my $9.00 REI digital high/low thermometer said 12 degree was reached Saturday night!

It was so much fun this weekend becoming reacquainted with old friends and making new friends. The snowfa was an awesome addition to the fire circle. And it seemed like quite a few people were joining in the fun with Frosty. Don't think we ever used the cooler, but the igloo was neat. Those boys worked really hard this weekend having fun. Thanks to all those that worked so hard to make this event work from reserving the campground to opening up the paths to and from, to putting up our kitchen and making the snowfa and love sleet. I think you will see a lot more entries next year in the Coup de grâce de grub cookoff too. It was all a great success.

Hopefully this link will take you to my pics.

Hey hey, not bad - I stayed nice and warm at 13 degrees last night then, didn't even realize it had gotten that cold

Had a great time, only sorry I couldn't make it for Friday night too. Just didn't seem like enough time in the woods! Thanks to everyone who helped plan and/or brought food and other items. It was lots of fun meeting more folks from the forum in person.

I had a great time this weekend, a huge thanks to Iafte, Stalker, and Steve. They did a great job getting the hang together, creating a kitchen area, and a great apron and trophy for the Coup de grâce de grub. They also put together Saturday night's raffle.

I figure I will put together a little summary of the weekend from my perspective.

I made it to the campsite about midnight on Thursday, set up camp, and hit the hay.

As I ate breakfast from my hammock in the morning I heard Iafte, Stalker, and Steve arrive. We got the kitchen area together, shoveled out the fire pit, and unloaded the firewood. People started trickling in and Stalker started building himself a "Snow Throne". That evolved into Stalker and I building a "Snowfa" and a "Love Sleet" with some help from Xexorz.

Friday nights campfire had about 12 attendees after everyone made it in through the ice puddles and snow along the trail(some, with more manual pushing, then others).

Saturday most of the group took a hike up to the Carranza Memorial which included a snowball fight with Iafte's boys. Iafte's boys also built the giant snowman seen in our group photo, as well as a small snow cave and an ice chest. That night was the Coup de grâce de grub. Everything was delicious but Oh-No's chili took the cake as he was crowned the first annual winner. The raffle afterwards was fun as well.

I got to look at lots of cool gear and meet lots of great people. It was an excellent first group hang experience for me. It was nice to put some faces to names.

This post is probably littered with grammatical and spelling errors but I am to lazy to proofread right now lol. I will get some pictures up in the next couple days.
