    new to the board

    Hello All,

I've been lurking for a few weeks now, and thought I'd say hello, finally. I look forward to reading the posts daily. Been interested in hammock camping forever and ordered a Claytor model a week before Christmas..... I'm anxiously waiting for delivery like a little kid. Anyway, I'm sure I'll have lots of questions, and can't wait to be able to contribute to the board. Thanks, Russell

Hey, I just noticed you are from Columbus Indiana. You are sure welcome to come with us this weekend. We are going in at night about 1.5 to 2 miles and camping in Brown Hollow, then hiking up to Browning Hill the next day. From there we will be either dayhiking to Bad Hollow and camping at Browning Hill or we will be spending some time investigating the stone monuments on the hill and camping in Brown Hollow for the night. Let me know if you want to. I can lend you a Hammock and a Tarp. Mule

That's right. You are the closest on on this site to me so far, Sorry!!!
No, that's why I invited you on our trip this weekend.
I also notice you are a paddler. Me too, Just bought a 14 foot kayak last month. I am sure we will be paddling around Monroe and camping at the point (peninsula) this summer. It will be good to meet you. IF you do come this weekend you could bring two pads for bottom insulation and your warmest sleeping bag and you would be initially Tried By Fire, right into cold weather hammock camping. and if you did get cold, you can always lower it to the ground along with the tarp and use it for a bivy. MAN, I wish I could come this weekend!! have to work though. My friend and I built our own solo canoes last winter via the stich and glue method. Then we took them to the Quitico in Canada... wow what a trip, but would only go tandem next time. We'll have to do some paddling this summer at monroe... Ever go up the Salt creek? Last summer, I saw a couple huge Bald Eagle's nests up there and camped out on an old road bed from who knows when. I love the history of the area. Glad to have met you, look forward to our meeting!
