We're planning a week long trip in the SMNP the first week of May. I'm trying to work that into the hang in Hot Springs.

One solution I've used before is a small motorcycle and a pickup truck or van big enough to haul the bike.
On recent sections I've parked my truck at a hostel or outfitter and had them shuttle me out, then I hiked back to my truck.

Happy trails!
Well for the last 1500 miles of the AT I've used shuttlers.
Leave the car at point A, they pick you up and drop you off at B...then you hike back to where you car is.
When I was in Mass. a most benevolent member of this forum slacked me for days! He's sectioning SoBo and when he gets in my area I will return the favor.
My last 4 section hikes have been from 100-150 miles. Never thought I'd be as far north as I am-knocking on NH's door
hey im planning on thru-hiking it the summer of 2012, and was wondering if anyone had any knowlege on sobo or nobo....which is better. i have heard both and i think it has to o with the weather and changing seasons...idk.
Thanks,
Dan

Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.
Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.
