    Stormcrow Incubator + WBBB

I'm patiently awaiting the arrival of my new Incubator from Stormcrow. Since my UQ will arrive only a few days before I go on a winter campout I wanted to ask if anyone has any tips or advice on how to set up and adjust my new UQ for optimal performance.

I will be using the full length UQ with my WBBB 1.7 Dbl.

I'd hate to learn "the hard way" that I didn't adjust it correctly or needed to make mods to keep warm.

    Thanks...

I just received mine recently, and I haven't had a chance to hang it yet. But I did learn that there is a head end and a foot end to the incubator. Lay it out when you get it, and the wider end (not by much) is the head end. It seems most folks that use it with a WBBB add an extra loop of shock cord over the RL towards the footbox to keep it positioned well over the footbox area. Do a forum search and you'll find lots of info.

Well the number one thing I'd suggest is testing out your gear. Their is def some tweaking that needs to be done to get the best fit with the WBBB and Incubator not that its hard or anything like that but getting the right sag to prevent CBS can sometimes be difficult the first couple of times setting up. A piece of shock cord tied around the center loops drooped over the ridge line helps keep the UQ snug against you behind. Also putting some xtra padding underneath you between the UQ and the BB can also help with any cold spots. Remember pics or it dident happen have fun.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

i really had to crank down and shorten the uq suspension, so my hmmk was "lifted". with its design, you'd be hard-pressed to compress any insulation. the tighter the better, ymmv.

i also added the shockcord over the ridge line on the foot end and middle.

these are all great pieces of advice.

Is there a "default" for how tight it should be in order to avoid CBS? If not, what is the general rule for insuring it fits right...?

Sorry to be a pain. Just won't have a lot of time to play with it before we leave. Trying to plan as much in advance as possible.

Good point, Stormcrow includes 14 ft of shock cord which is way to long for a WBBB. Some cut out a length of shock cord other just tie a knot in it. I just tied a knot bc one day im gonna need that shock cord on the trail and ill have it, thats how I think of it any ways.

mine lifts the hmmk body up over the ridgeline.
i also attached shockey at the center of the foot end channel, up over the whipping. i tell myself it helps

I tighten it up so their is zero sag in the UQ t where it lifts the hammock above the ridge line. Remember you cant really tighten it up to much because of the differential baffling.

Snug it up tight then take a piece of foam in case you get CBS and adjust the UQ in the morning.
