Does anyone still use the standard method that hennessy explains to hang their hammock? Also, can you replace the rope on a HH?

Thanks for the heads up.
So what does the zip-tie hold on? Just the little nylon sheath that goes over the end of the hammock? because if that's what's holding the bunched end together I'm a little leary about undoing it.
When I use a HH at demos of UQs I still use the standard lashing.... Once one becomes adroit at eastimating tree distances, and has several years of practice, it really is about as fast as the cinch rings (flack attack coming ) or at least as fast as a rookie with the rings

I still use the figure-8 and the stock tarp. I do run a seperate "tarp line." I run a single line from tree to tree and use the Prusik's from the HH in the same manner but "on the tarp line". The prusik's work great, the setup is essentially the same and I can also adjust the height for more ventilation, rain potential etc.....
Hammock hanging and fly fishing;it just doesn't get any better!
I bought my hammock used (not really, it was at an attic sale at REI and someone returned it after clearly not using it) anywho, the rope has some fray on one side. What kind of rope should I use to replace it?
