This is a popular brand here. The 2.8 millimeter should work.

Here are a couple of pics of the Hennessy rope and how it is attached to the hammock. In case you forget how. http://www.hammockforums.net/gallery...er=423&page=18

I still use the HH lashing when I use the HH. I'm usually in a homemade one, though.

I use the HH knot. Although sometimes I fell lazy a just tie either a taunt line hitch or 2 half hitches and since it up against the tree huggers. The problem is its a little harder to get undone once your ready to tear down camp.

My Hennessy Hammock is on the way and I just wanted to thank you all for this thread (and past threads) and the pictures. I plan on switching it over to ring buckle support first thing.

I'm planning on using the following:

    Camp "Nano Wire" 'biners:
    http://www.backcountrygear.com/catal...ail.cfm/CMP450

    SMC Aluminum Descending Rings:
    http://www.backcountrygear.com/catal...ail.cfm/SMC175

1" woodland green camo webbing (polyester)
    http://www.owfinc.com/Hardware/Shardware/webbing.asp

    100% Polyester Gutterman Thread
    http://www.owfinc.com/Hardware/Shardware/thread.asp

    Spyderline 3.8mm:
    http://www.apsltd.com/Tree/d279000/e277437.asp
or bulk if you want to save some money and have some extra (third down from the top):
    http://www.apsltd.com/Tree/d3000/e867.asp

Is the 3.8mm overkill? I saw 2.8mm recommended, but I didn't want to create a weak spot in the chain so was going to go a bit further.

Thanks for the reply. Also added the thread I want to use to my first reply. Still have to figure out how to order from them. Not sure if they do just one spool to a nobody like me. They don't even have an online shopping cart.

I'd get the 100% polyester Gutterman thread from OWF as well. It's cheap, nice color selection, and you'll save on shipping.www.owfinc.com/Hardware/Shardware/thread.asp

I snapped a strand of 2.8mm Spyderline as the main suspension line (bad geometry---too shallow an angle) and subsequently changed to 3.8mm (and got better with geometry). Still small and light.

I still use the HH wrap and tree huggers. Once the huggers wear out, I'll probably switch to the ring buckle system.

I use the original tarp if I'm out for a weekend and the forecast looks good, otherwise I use my brand-new Speer Winter Tarp to have lots of room to camp.

several hints (might not like them, but I dont know):

Spyderline, im not familiar, so cant say on the 3.8 over 2.8. but if you only need 50 feet and go with the 3.8 (or 75 feet for 2.8) a mini spool might be better. It is available in 2 places, and one may cut down on shipping. apsltd, as you listed, has a mini spool for $23. http://www.apsltd.com/Tree/d3000/e867.asp (3rd down from top).

west marine has the same thing, but for me it is better. there is a west marine close to my house, so I will go eventually and see if they have the spool or can add it to the resupply to avoid shipping. http://tinyurl.com/2vmcxx

    thread:

as others have mentioned, you can get polyester thread other places and save on shipping. owfinc has in many colors, which is nice. but speer and thru-hiker have a 600yd cone. that is cheaper, but only in black and not name brand.

if you want go to walmart, I found poly thread there (3000yd for ~$2). but it looked low quality.
