    wanted: dbl layer advice please

As allways I dove right in and am at the point of no return. My main question is how much of an opening to leave for a pad and is a zipper neccessary (or rather add any benifits)? I have a headache from all the mind sewing, it's like a 2:1 ratio.

    Here's a good pattern:

He leaves open 48" on opposite sides... I've seen some plans where you leave like 3' open on both sides at each end and only sew the middle together...

    I haven't done either....

Nah, don't need a zipper for the pad opening. A plus is that you can reach in and adjust things/hold things still while you're in the hammock.
I left a 26" gap for my 24" wide pad. I'd just make it a few inches wider than your pad.

It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Nice. wish I'd seen that before. With two openings you can tie out the pad to reduce movement ( This is only a logical guess)

I was originaly going to try the WBBB but hey I'll wait buy one (I've allways been confortable without a footbox), this DIY is complicated enough, besides my b'day is in July HONEY, I love you!

I went with what I know, the a-sym tyeouts. I started with 10'6" of fabric. (inner layer is down resistant and I used 1.6 coated for the outer layer. I'd love oppinions on that.) I've got a hole between my tyeout and the end. When all is said and done the opening will be a couple of feet on the maximum. Since it's all fun and games I'm adding a zip. I bought 10 yrds of zipper on ebay for $6 including shipping. Why not?

I just cut out some noseeum and I'm going to add a removable stealth tarp. I'll post pics tomorrow hopefully.

That is the pattern I used for my 1.1oz RS DL. steps 1 & 2 only. I us woopie slings in stead of straps.

Can't wait to see pics of the finished product.
