You can use Cardboard for a tarp if you like....

Little hard getting it into the snakeskin though.

William Strunk would be so proud. Well said!

Vigorous writing is concise. A sentence should contain no unnecessary words, a paragraph no unnecessary sentences, for the reason that a drawing should have no unnecessary lines and a machine no unnecessary parts. This requires not that the writer make all his sentences short, or that he avoid detail and treat his subjects only in outline, but that every word tell. William Strunk

You can get a 8x10 poly tarp from lowes for about $9.
Just glue a couple of tieouts to the sides.

Mcnett Aquaseal glue will glue mostly anything and I think that would work.
Nasty stuff to work with though.
Have not tried it on poly either.

i just used the grommets but that might have been a contributing factor to the anti-taughtness of it all.
    ...in it for pics.

I used a regular blue tarp from WalMart until I got the sil nylon poncho I use now for $25. I would love to buy a Superfly, but the cost is a bit much to justify for the weather I camp/hike in.

I bought the super fly for one purpose. Anything can happen in the sierras (or the sierra valley) in the summer and I like the extra coverage mostly for changing my clothes.

Before I go that I used a camouflage tarp from harbor freight. I would still be using it but my dad absconded it to cover our fire wood for the winter.

A word on the no-sew option- the heat bonded attachments is not generally intended for areas of high stress- most of them are for hems on skirts/dresses, where all they hold up is the weight of the fabric, and even then they do fail over time.
KM (who uses them to hold down appliqués for attachment stitches)
