    Hhammock Art

This is a painting of a camp in the Amazon jungle by the Peruvian shaman Pablo Amaringo. The 'tents' in the background are 'bugnet tents'. Unfortunately, everyone in the camp was devoured by a giant leech called "sanguijuela mama" (the mother of all leeches?). Of course the hammock rat was first to die The moral of the story is, of course, let the ground dwellers camp next to the water!

The leech can be seen cruising on up from the bottom left, no doubt thinking "Mmm...burritos!"

Oddly devoid of the 9x9 Neo tarp...

Hell, Jeff - You know as well as I do that they didn't even have Neo's hammock back then. It was invented later by the Claytor tribe of the Algonquians

If only they had had a giant salt shaker and that leech would have been done for!

Or a big copper strip around their camp, kinda like those portable moose fences up north.

As much as I like salt they probably would have left me alone. My wife and boys have threatened to get me a salt lick for Christmas before.

I think a giant salt shaker could have been a dual-purpose piece of gear...kill the giant leech and have the ability to coat the rim of your giant Margarita glass with a nice layer of salt! mmmmmmm.......
