Blanks for DIY trekking poles

Posting here as I noticed the other thread was in the Donating Member area, thought it might get more traffic here....mods, you can delete and move my other thread if you like....

If anyone is interested, I emailed Goodwinds to get some info on the carbon tubing discussed in another thread, and received the following response. I called him and ordered some and they are approx 51" long and he gave me a really good price on them. I told him I would post the info here, ask for Paul.

Although what you are looking for might very well work, I might have an alternative for you.
We still have a large inventory of ski pole blanks, that I think would be perfect for your application, stronger and more rigid. It's .420" OD and has a variable ID of .1" to .12", from one end to the next.

Well, I am not sure what other blanks cost, but he asked me not to advertise the price he gave me as he somewhat jumped the gun before realizing the interest there might be in these. He said to post the info and have you guys call. It sounded like they had a lot in stock and maybe they were trying to clear them out. Give him a call and see what price he works out for you.

If there is an abundance and you are willing to do some work on this you may want to consider a group buy. Of course there would have to be a price listed + shipping. Could see what kind of deal you could get on 10 sets and then see if there is enough interest. If there is more interest than that call the guy back to see if you can get a better deal. Just a thought.

I sent them an email regarding a bulk order, will post the response once I get it. If anyone interested in a pair of poles will post here, or send me a PM, let's get an estimate on how many we are talking and see what kind of deal they might cut us. I have never run one of these group buys, but I am will to give it a try.

I think there will be plenty of interest. I'm in the boat with most others as I would like to know the price, & also how the weight compares to the .500" ones.
