Hike 'n Hang, Mt Solitary, NSW, Aust; 26-27 March

Hi All,

Couldn't resist getting a sneak peak at some of the track that lies ahead of us in a few weeks.

So a really early morning walk from the Golden Staircase to Ruined Castle was in order, It was a real late night idea so I stuffed my overnight pack weight together (just for fun) and headed off.

It was the first time I had done either the Golden Stairs or been to Ruined Castle. The Stairs were not much worth writing about but WOW…. I can’t wait to get back to the Castle and to have someone to share the feeling it gives with. I had the place to myself which was really cool in one way but I just sooo missed someone to talk about it with.

The walk between the stairs and the castle (which I suspect will be similar for the length we’ll be doing) is half the joy. I’m not even going to try and explain it, just wait and you’ll feel it too. Great to be in, look at and just about flat!!! Perfect. I was even looking forward the climb at either end for the work out.

BTW – Be sure to bring some cool weather gear, it was 10 degrees at the bottom of the Golden Staircase at 7am.

Will be great to have 1st timers to hammocking along C/o Hitch - you know how we love to talk it up!!. Bateman, Chees and anyone one else is more than welcome

Oh yeah and last note / Question for GTR…. Did you want to see if the group wanted to get the railway back up at the end?

Hi All,

I'm afraid my leave pass for this weekend has been revoked. I didn't realise a leave pass could even be revoked, but it seems I didn't read ALL the fine print of the marriage contract.

Mind you, it's been 11 years so clearly I'm not up to date with the latest ammedments.

So anyway, I now have to go to Port Macquarie with the wife to visit her friend, whom I'm not a huge fan of and who happens to be married to THE most annoying bloke in the universe. Yay for me!!

So if anyone is interested in a hang in April let me know and I'll see if I can organise another weekend away to cancel at the last minute.

Nevermind - we'll sort somthing for a few weeks time.

I cant do the 2nd/3rd But what about the week after?

9th/10th of April? How does that sounds for everyone / anyone?

Hope you all have a great trip, Once March/April is out of the way I'm all free to join a group hang and do some more bushwalking.
I'll have a drink or 10 on Saturday night @ my 30th and toast the moon for a good trip and weather for ya

Hi guys, just come across this and don't get on the forum much. I am going away on a canoe camp on this particular weekend but I would love to hook up with you guys another time if you don't mind. I love to camp/hike and always willing to meet likeminders. Recently got a warbonnet and VERY exited. Have a great hang, fingers crossed with the weather.

Hi Guys.. never realised there were so many other hammockers local.

Just got a WBBB1.0dbl and mamba tarp. still learning the ropes so to speak. Very cool idea to have a hike'n'hang... is it open invite? I struggle to get weekends off but might be able to swing it... opps very bad pun.
