Thanks to RedO'Leary's inspiration, I was planning a DIY ridgeline organizer. I liked his design from this thread:
http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...line+organizer
But I wanted something a bit different.
So I cobbled this together:
The mesh pocket took forever to make. It was a lot of work to sew the grosgrain to the mesh. It works, but it's not exactly what I want... (I'll PIF this one soon)
So, collaborating with Awestberry we began working on the next one... He chose black. I think it turned out great.
2 pockets on each side, overall size roughly 12"x7" (flattened) (Yes, it was supposed to be bigger, but I didn't give myself enough seam allowance...)
The side pockets are one fully hemmed piece of material per side, with a dividing stitch up the middle. The dividing stitch is bartacked at the top for strength.
What makes this one unique is the ridgeline connection: It's a flap that runs the length of the sack, and secures with velcro. Other organizers can collapse inward from the weight of the stuff they carry. By moving to a single-full length connection, we improve that and eliminate clips or extra loops that could get snagged.
Thoughts? Improvements?
I was thinking about making a bunch of these and passing them along.. My daughter is taking a trip to Australia in July. This might be a good father-daughter activity that might make her some spending money...
