Great! Look forward to meeting you guys.
Just a reminder for those that take part... despite the hot temperatures we're dealing w/ now, autumn will be approaching at camp time. Also, it is notably cooler at the camp ground's elevation. Some insulation will likely be needed.

    Ideas

Hopefully we will find at lest some of the excitement here as was seen on the planning thread for the MAHHA Spring Hang and Exhibition.
Below I have pasted a copy of the schedule they had before their event just for example & ideas.

I don't know if any of the same folks will be attending the Greyson County Highlands Fall Festival Hang or not (hope so), but lets see what we can come up with.
We may not end up with that many different demos, but maybe we can cover the most important aspects of hammocking, including insulation & tarps. And maybe a few other backpacking subjects like lightweight backpacking, stoves, freezer bag meals, etc.

    Food for thought

On the map linked below, you can see the group site with the camp ground. The festival will be in the area called the "Wayne C. Henderson Stage, Homestead Area", so we will need to drive (or hike if you like)to the festival area were we will demo hammock set ups, etc.

Therefore, we will probably want to time the demos, say from 10 or 11am till 4 or 5pm on Saturday(just an example).
And it might be good if each demo had at least two individuals that could be there during those times to answer questions. That way, no one individual will feel "stuck" at his or her demo for a very long period.

Ldcakes & Gumbo have expressed an interest in helping w/ some of the camp meals. Please share your ideas for meals, hammock demos, etc here. I'm sure others will jump in to contribute.

    Saturday Evening Pot Luck

I did volunteer to make some gumbo but I'm going to need a little bit of help to pull it off.

Does anyone have a double burner propane stove that they are willing bring? My camp stove is too small for the pot we are going to need. A propane tank with a stand and a pot (the kind used for frying turkeys and such) will work too.

Here are the other ingredients I will be needing:

Cooked Rice (I estimate a gallon zip lock bag will cover 10-12 people)
Chicken (cut into 1 inch cubes) Last time I cooked this I used 4lbs of chicken
Trinity Mix (green bell pepper, onion and celery)
    Okra - cut one bag
I'll bring the Andouille Sausage and the roux base.

Great side accompaniments include French bread loaves.

Any ideas or volunteers for dessert?

    Terri

I have an 8 or 10 quart pot, burner, stand, and propane bottle I can bring. If that is not larger enough I can bring the crab cooker - 40 qts I think. I also plan on bringing my 2-burner Coleman liquid fuel stove (old style) for cooking breakfast, etc. My breakfast contribution will be homemade venision sausage plus eggs or pancakes, whichever folks prefer.
Let me know if this works for your plans.

That sounds perfect! I'll count on using your 8-12 pot, stand setup.

Oh and count me and Timberrr in for breakfast. I love deer sausage! I'll make a donation to the breakfast food fund.
