Lots of great ideas guys & gals. Thanks
The multi-purpose idea interests me. I've been trying to come up with a bath mat idea for use with my solar shower. Standing on rocks, dirt, pine needles while showering sucks. I'm wondering if a 3 ft. X 3 ft. piece of heavy duty mesh might work for both????

I have a piece of heavy coated cordura nylon that I plan on hemming and adding four corner loops for stakes. I plan on treating this with permethrin to deal with the ticks, and possibly provide me with a perverse bit of entertainment as I watch disoriented ticks bumble about before succumbing to the throes of death.

When camping by a lake, my wife & I used some CCF for a solar shower bath mat. It was extremely slippery when wet. Be sure to test for slipperiness before packing it down the river! It also picked up all kinds of ground materials but you probably deal with sand which can be rinsed off in the river.

What kind of mesh are you thinking?

I have a heavy duty mesh floor in my cataraft. It's suspended between the lower rails and you can stand on it. Kind of like a trampoline in a way. Something really heavy duty like that. Slippery wouldn't be a good thing. We are required to use soap above the high water mark on most rivers, so it means carrying the shower up away from the river & hanging it from a tree. You never know what you'll be standing on..... leaves, pine needles, dirt, sand, rocks. Mostly stuff that hurts to step on. I usually carry my camp chair with me to hang my clothes & towel, and to have a place to sit and dress, but it would be nice to have a drainable "bath mat." Plus if it's sturdy and dries quick it could double as a ground cloth under my hammock. Just a thought to ponder as I start going through my river gear before trips start in April.

If I'm car camping, I will use the floor mats, otherwise, I just leave my crocs under the hammock.

For starters, I'm just going with my $1.00 Wallymart flip flops (used to be called thongs...but thong and 66 year old man in the same sentence is not a pretty thought). They weigh nothing, take up little room and are multi use.
