    New personal record

I have set a new personal record for the coldest temps I have been and comfortable in a hammock.. 0 degrees and i was nice and toastie.

    Set up on bottom
    BBWB double layer 1.1
Mac IX huge under quilt double layer
    3/8 foam pad
    one super small therma rest
    silver blanket

    Set Up on top
one old -5 bag with a 40 bag over it
Tyvek cover over the bug netting.

Not a light weight set up but is there one for that temp?? Lots of fun camping when no one else is out..

Awesome! Aint it cool to go out in such conditions and be so comfy!! Especially when you get to enjoy the woods alone.

Is the Mac IX UQ liek the shamu from treetotrails? I'm thinking on picking up the baby orca this week and testing out how low I can go with this. Not sure if it's base set up will do for me, or if I should pick up an extra layer of IX. Anyway....

Great job. Every 5-10 deg F lower is a step forward.

In answer to your question, yes, I do think there is a light weight set-up at every temperaure.

Instead of thinking of it in terms of a fixed weight, consider it the lowest weight sleep system you need for that temperautre range

So light weight in the winter is a lot heavier than light weight in summer, but both are light weight...clear as mud?

Way to go, Smitty, most impressive!

The "super small" Thermarest, was that the 1" thick Ultrlight? Were the 2 pads some how stacked? Were the pads inside the hammock, or inside the WBBB pad pocket?

I guess the Mac IX ( 2 layers, plus a "torso" or "Insultube" layer?) UQ was right under the hammock? Maybe with the Silver blanket(space blanket?) under everything? Or was the silver fitst layer on top of every thing?

    Any condensation?

Is that enough questions for you? Can't help but be interested in details when a person is "toasty" at zero without even a major down winter UQ!
