Using the Stormcrow Incubator with the WBBB

So I've been looking at the WBBB for a long time. I've been wondering though: With the footbox, does the WBBB work with a full length UQ like the Stormcrow Incubator?

    Thanks for any info,

Yes it works, but there's a learning curve.

It's an easier fit on hammocks like the Speer or WB Traveller...lower fiddle factor.

Any tricks you can share that would lessen that curve?

x2 Once you get it dialed in, you are good to go.

I had to tie knots in the suspension where it loops over the knotted ends. This tightens the suspension and snugs the quilt right up against the bottom of the hammock. I know others have posted about securing the UQ to the footbox but I have not had any issues that have warranted this mod yet.

    Same Boat...

If it helps any, I am in the same boat as you. I just ordered a WBBB dl 1.7 and a full-length Stormcrow UQ. I posed the same question to Adam (Stormcrow) when I ordered from him and he assured me it would work fine. He even agreed to shorten up the suspension for me so I have a little less fiddle-factor when it arrives. I went with his UQ over some of the others available because it is wider, which I think will fit me better. I'm not a skinny fellow you see...

In short, Adam was great to work with and I have no concerns with my purchase.

Since I use my quilt on a variety of hammocks, I cut the shock cords and installed cordlocks to make them adjustable over a wide range. Also, shockcord running up and over the ridgeline can be helpful.

The problem I've encountered with the Blackbird is that the footbox captures the quilt very effectively, and pulls the quilt out from under my left shoulder. Right now, I'm playing with a second ridgeline outside the net. This makes it possible run shockcord to just one side of the quilt...I can rig a shockcord to hold the quilt under my shoulder. I've also used a small "mini quilt" under my shoulder as a supplement, and that works well.

In a recent thread, Adam pointed out that there is a head and a foot end on the quilt, the head being a bit wider. He also recommended hanging the quilt very tight. I haven't had a chance to try this, yet. The learning never stops.

This does not just belong to the Incubator + WBBB. I have a KAQ New River that does the same thing with the foot box. It was simply a matter of fine tuning the attachments. I also used the AHE Triangle Thingies for this...might help with the Incubator, might not.
