Regional Subforums for Hangouts, Campouts, Trip Planning Forum

I dont know if this has ever been suggested or if anyone else has the same thoughts. But it would be nice to me to have the 'Hangouts, Campouts, and Trip Planning' forum have subforums under it that divide the country (and one for international) into regions. I know there are some hangs that happen every year in each region and these could even be stickied under that subforum. I am not sure how far down to divide the regions but at least into quarters(SE, NE, NW, SW) and if room allows list the state abbreviations next to the region name in the subforum heading so people would know what subforum to post in depending on what state the hang would be in. Does anyone else think this would be a good idea, or have any suggesstions to make it easier to find hangouts/campouts in a certain area?

I see where this segregation is going. "Separate but equal". Let me just go find my seat at the back of the bus.

Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

Instead of dividing the country into quarters maybe you could use the same regions used on the Backpacker magazine forums. They use the following:

    Mid-Atlantic
    DE,MD,NJ,NC,PA,VA,WV

    Midwest
    IL,IN,IA,KS,MI,MN,MO,NE,OH,OK,ND,SD,WI

    Southwest
    AZ,CA,HI,NM,NV,TX

    Southern
    AL,AR,FL,GA,KY,LA,MS,NC,SC,TN

    Rocky Mountains
    CO,ID,MT,UT,WY

    Pacific Northwest
    OR,WA,AK

    and

    Northeast
    CT,ME,MA,NH,NY,RI,VT

    plus International

Texas by itself covers a lot of ground!

I hear of these great spots to hang in Texas, where I live, only to find them an 8 - 10 drive away, at best.

But it really doesn't matter how you break it down. It will be a pretty good project to undertake and support, IMHO.

There's a mistake on that list I copied in that NC is listed in 2 regions. It should only appear in the Southern region.
